Louise oversees the multi-disciplinary agency that serves the full range of counseling and mental health needs of Ohio State’s student body. She also leads the units dedicated to removing barriers to and enhancing success of students: Career Connection, Counseling and Consultation, Student Wellness, Student Health, Student Advocacy, Student Judicial, Research and Assessment and the Younkin Success Center. She holds a B.S. in psychology from Ohio State and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Minnesota. She has 30 years of experience in college mental health at Ohio State University and is considered a national expert in this area.

Connie leads Ohio State’s student wellness efforts, which provide educational programs and services to individuals and groups. She holds a B.S. in social work from Manchester College and an M.A. in college student personnel administration from Ball State University. She has worked for more than 25 years in residence life and wellness, the last 11 at Ohio State in Student Life.

Chris oversees and administers Career Connection, which promotes academic, personal, and occupational success by assisting students in career decision-making and career development. She also provides counseling and clinical supervision and training at the Counseling and Consultation Service. She holds a B.A. in psychology and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Michigan State University. She has been in Student Life at Ohio State for 23 years. Prior to that, she worked at Ohio Wesleyan University in the Counseling, Advising and Placement Center and taught in the Psychology Department.

Karen M. Kyle

Karen leads the team that assists students in resolving problems and removing barriers to academic success. Karen and her staff also coordinate the University's crisis response in the event of a student death, serious injury, or personal trauma. She earned a B.A. in interpersonal and public communication and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Bowling Green State University. She has worked for Ohio State and Student Life for 13 years. She has also worked for other universities in student activities, international student services, and residence life.

Andrea leads the Office of Student Judicial Affairs, which supports Ohio State’s educational mission by administering the Code of Student Conduct and serving as a resource to the University community and beyond. She has a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Miami and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Michigan. Andrea has been at Ohio State for more than three years, and during 20 years of prior experience at other universities has had experience in university housing and residence life, academic integrity, Greek life, and advising honor societies, and has been an assistant dean of students.

Lance leads outcomes-based assessment activities for the Office of Student Life. He conducts research on all aspects of the student experience at Ohio State. Lance earned B.A. in sociology from Eastern Illinois University, and holds a master’s degree in student affairs administration and a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before coming to Ohio State, Lance spent six years working in institutional research at DePaul University and the University of Florida. He joined Ohio State and Student Life in June 2008.

Don leads the Student Life Learner Initiatives Team that is focusing on a holistic learning approach to personal development and civic engagement. He is the administrative leader for the partnership of departments that comprise the Younkin Success Center, and provides support to the vice president on a variety of projects related to learning outcomes, regional campus relationships, and student affairs national leadership agenda items. Currently, he is filling an interim role during a transition in leadership of Student Health Services. Don has a B.S. from Ohio State, and MBA from Capital University, and has pursued doctoral studies at Ohio State. He has been a member of the OSU Student Life staff for 39 years.

James R. Jacobs, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Jacobs provides administrative leadership for Student Health Services and the Wilce Student Health Center. He also maintains a limited clinical practice at Wilce, with special interests in men’s health, wound care, ADHD, and anxiety. Dr. Jacobs received the Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the M.D. from Duke University. He is Board certified in emergency medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is new to Ohio State, having spent the past six years at Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY.
