What exactly is a "Chase E-Funds Payroll Card"?

A Chase E-Funds Payroll Card functions similar to a debit card. An employee receives his or her net pay via direct deposit into a secure account that is set up and maintained by JP Morgan Chase.  This account is linked to the "Chase E-Funds Payroll Card" that has been produced by the bank especially for OSU employees.

What are the benefits of a Payroll Card?

Some of the benefits of a Chase E-Funds Payroll Card are:

• It’s convenient - With your Chase E-funds Payroll Card, your paycheck is deposited automatically every payday – no more time wasted picking up your paycheck, waiting in line at the bank or paying expensive check-cashing fees. Also you can access your money easily at more than 900,000 ATMs.

• It’s easy – Whether you’re home, or on vacation or away on business, you can use your card for anything from paying bills to making purchases at millions of merchants worldwide. And, you can check your balance at any time – by phone, through the Internet or at an ATM.

• It’s secure – Your Chase E-funds Payroll Card helps eliminate the need to carry large sums of cash. You are protected if your card is ever lost or stolen because your money is stored in your account, not on your card. In addition, your E-Funds account has the added protection of being FDIC insured.

How Can I Sign Up To Receive A Payroll Card?

Complete the Chase E-funds Payroll Card Application and submit it the Office of Human Resources located at 1590 North High Street, Suite 300, or fax it to (614) 688-3640. After processing the application, you should receive your Payroll Card within 10 business days.

How does the Chase E-Funds Payroll Card work?

On your regulariy scheduled payday, your net pay will be electronically deposited into your established payroll card account at JP Morgan Chase. You will be eligible for one (1) free transaction per payroll cycle. This free transaction can be a JPMorgan Chase (Bank One) teller OR automatic teller machine (ATM) transaction. You may also use the Chase E-Funds Payroll Card at point of sale (POS) locations such as department stores, grocery stores, and gas stations at no charge.

What are the fees associated with the Chase E-Funds Payroll Card?

After the first free transaction either at a JPMorgan Chase (Bank One) teller OR automatic teller machine (ATM), you will be charged additional fees for ATM or teller transactions, although, Point of sale (POS) transactions are free. Fees associated with the Chase e-Funds Payroll Card can be found on the application document.

Do I receive a monthly statement of card activity?

Yes. You will receive a monthly statement of activity from JP Morgan Chase. Also, you can visit the E-Funds cardholder web site.

What happens if my E-Fund Payroll Card is lost or stolen?

You must immediately call 1-888-606-7058 to report a lost or stolen card, and order a replacement. You will not lose your money if someone uses the card without your permission, provided you report the card as lost or stolen in a timely manner. This is a major benefit of getting paid with a Chase E-funds Payroll Card.

What happens to the E-Fund Payroll Card and my money if I leave the university?

If you leave the university, you may continue to use the Chase E-Funds Payroll Card to access your funds for up to 30 days at Visa Debit merchant locations and NYCE or Cirrus ATMs. If the balance is not zero, you can call Chase Customer Support at 1-888-606-7058 and request a check by mail for the balance.

What are all of the options for getting paid using the Paperless Pay System

Using the Paperless Pay system, Ohio State employees will receive their wages in one of the following ways:

  1. Employees will receive payment via traditional direct deposit into the existing, personal bank account (s) of their choice.
  2. An employee can receive payment via direct deposit into a special, secure account set up and maintained by JPMorgan Chase. This account will be linked to a "Chase E-Funds Payroll Card” that has been produced for OSU.
  3. A combination of both. You will be able to direct some of your payment into a bank account (s) of your choice and another portion of your money to a payroll card.

Employees who do not have a bank account for direct deposit and who refuse to use a "Chase E-Funds Payroll Card" would have their paychecks mailed to their current home address in the HR system on payday by the Office of Human Resources.

How do I cancel my Direct Deposit?

To cancel direct deposit, fill out a Direct Deposit Enrollment Form, put a check mark next to "I hereby terminate my authorization...", and return it to the Office of Human Resources, Payroll Services, 1590 North High Street, Suite 300.
