Dr. J's message for Week of Sept.27-Oct. 4

Whew!  What a whirlwind Welcome Week was!  Wet, too.

I had a blast meeting many of you at Move-In, Convocation, the Involvement Fair, Buckeye Frenzy, Family Affair, Community Commitment ...and the list goes on and on.   A little precipitation didn't dampen your spirits.  I hope you enjoyed your first week of Autumn 2009 as much as I did, and that you're feeling strong and positive going into the new year.

Whether this is your first quarter at Ohio State or your tenth or twelfth, I welcome you and wish you all good things this year.  There's a lot to look forward to, including the very exciting opening of the new Ohio Union this spring.  Check out the fabulous renovation of the Thompson Library, the new Mirror Lake Creamery (Ohio-made ice cream and great sandwiches), and all the other campus improvements completed over the summer.

As those at Convocation heard from me and the other speakers, the opportunities at Ohio State abound for those willing to embrace them.  Connect with others, challenge yourself, be a friend, keep an open mind, and make the most of your collegiate experience in and out of the classroom.

I'll be writing this column regularly and want to cover what's on your mind, so please do let me know what topics and questions you'd like to have me address.  Email me at vicepresident@studentlife.osu.edu or chat with me when you see me around campus.
