Dr. J's message for June 7, 2009
As we come to the end of the 2008-2009 academic year, I want to first of all congratulate those of you who will be graduating next Sunday. You have achieved the goal you set when you entered Ohio State. All of you had to work hard - and some of you had to overcome substantial obstacles. But you have learned and grown and earned the distinction of an Ohio State University degree. You are an indelible part of the university's history, and a vital link in the chain of educated citizens going forth to be leaders at all levels and aspects of life. We are proud of you, your family and friends are proud of you, and you should be proud of yourselves. I wish you joy and good fortune as you move into the next phase of your life. Keep learning, keep caring, and keep Ohio State in your heart.
I also want to wish all of you who are not graduating this quarter the best of luck on your final exams and projects, as well as a safe, happy and productive summer. Some of you will be on campus this summer (as I will be), but many of you will be leaving for summer jobs, travel, and other experiences. Have great summer wherever you are! Those of us here will be orienting a new class and preparing for your return in the fall.
It's hard to believe it's only been a little more than five months since I arrived and began my duties as Vice President for Student Life. I feel very at home as a Buckeye, and I appreciate all that you have done to welcome me and bring me into the OSU family.
Happy Summer!
